What will convert my DVD's to MPEG-2?

These DVD's that I need to convert are made by a church and I think all of them were done on a Windows machine. They play fine on my DVD player, but when I try to convert them to MPEG2 the MPEG2Works4 and the Streamclip freeze up after about 1 hour, and the iSkysoft converts it but with glitches every 20 seconds or so. I need something that will convert from DVD to MPEG2 that is solid and that works good. Do you think the Quicktime will do it? I have heard that it only plays, but won't convert to MPEG2.

I went to Videolan's download center and saw that it was for a Mac Power PC 10.5 and mine is only a 10.4.11 power pc.

I couldn't see where they had any other older downloads.

Yes, I downloaded ffmpegx, but I got notes saying I needed other software. When I went to those sites, they didn't seem to load to my Mac. It could be because I am not a computer expert.

I downloaded the Videolan and found it is only a media player--not a converter. Also, I got the Intel version--even though I chose the power-pc version.

This doesn't seem to help.

I checked with Quicktime and they tell me their Quicktime Pro will only play MPEG-2, but will not convert my DVD's to MPEG-2.

The DVD's all need to be converted to a standard MPEG-2 format before they can be uploaded into our Telvue B100 server hard drive. Then they can be broadcast over our TV station. The DVD format won't upload correctly without conversion.
