Iphone 3g silent switch broken...can I use settings?

My silent switch has broken off. It wont work with me moving it with a pen either. I went to the Genius Bar and since it is out of warranty, they can't do anything for me. I'm not due for an upgrade until July, so I really need a way to set my phone to vibrate without the switch.

I can set my phone to no sound for texts, but it still doesnt vibrate even though I have vibrate enabled. I can lower my sound down to one bar with the volume button, but its still some sound. Is there any way to put the phone in silent/vibrate mode without jailbreaking or anything? All the solutions I have read require jailbreaking and downloading an app called Auto Silent, but I dont want to jailbeak.
