Current time indicator doesn't move while playing or recording

Hi -
L9 - after not using it for 4 months I have forgotten a lot - and I only knew a little!

But it seems to me that the thin vertical line I forgot the name of (current time indicator??) is supposed to move as the song is played and/or during recording. Suddenly this isn't happening. While the song is playing the line is still. When I stop the playback it jumps to the finishing measure. Same with recording - no movement until the track is stopped.

Is there a setting or switch I have to hit??
Why isn't the indicator moving?

Thanks for your response.

So your only bug is that the playhead (that is what it is called) isn't moving, but still the song is playing? There is no setting for that, so this sounds like it is 'broken'. Does this happen in all your projects? Does it happen in a new project too?

Do you have other applications open? What happens when you restart your Mac and only open Logic and this project?

If it happens no matter what, you should try refreshing the preferences:
0. Export your custom Key Commands (if you have any) from the Key Command window
1. Quit Logic.
2. Find the file com.apple.logic.pro.plist here: 'yourdisk'/Users/'you'/Library/Preferences/
3. Drag it to the Desktop
4. Start Logic. It'll create a fresh .plist file. Now see if your problem is gone or not. If it is, you can trash the (old) .plist file on the desktop. If it isn't, you can quit Logic and put the old .plist file back - if you want.

If that doesn't help, I would reinstall the Logic app.

regards, Erik.
