iTunes Error 42408 After 9.03 Upgrade

I am receiving the error 42408 after upgrading to 9.03. Google did not yield any results. The error appears attempting to authorize my Powerbook.

I am having the same problem on a Windows XP laptop. My iPod will not sync my purchased content due to this error. Of course, there was no problem purchasing it and downloading it to my machine, but I can't access any of it from my iPod because it's not on there. It is very frustrating, especially considering the amount of time between iTunes releases where, I'm assuming, these kinds of problems are debugged in testing ahead of time. Hopefully a patch will be implemented soon if it is, in fact, update-related. If not, I'm at a loss.

I had the same problem. Check the version of iTunes via the About dialog. Mine said 9.0.2 despite having upgraded via system updates, itunes and even downloading the whole package again.

Turns out, the dock iTunes link is running the old one. Basically, remove it from the dock, and re-drag the itunes from the applications folder back onto the dock. This then started 9.0.3 for me, and my iTunes account worked, the itunes store worked and iphone sync worked as well. Phew.

Okay, I have a fix that seems to have worked. You need to be able to access your iPod from your system's explorer. Make sure iTunes is closed. On your iPod you will find a file named iTunesPrefs.plist and another named iTunesPrefs with no extension. Cut and paste those two files somewhere else on your hard drive. Following, start up iTunes and attempt to Authorize/Deauthorize and it should work.
