Midi hardware mapping - the wrong hardware??

I've just found out that I can't connect all my hardware up.
Macbook pro > Edirol FA-66 > Beringer FCB1010 > Korg X5D = bummer.

and what i need is either
A) Macbook pro > Edirol FA-66 > some midi keyboard controller all in one
B) Macbook pro > Some other firewire interface with 2 midi in/out > Beringer FCB1010 & Korg X5D

Do you use a footcontroller for changing patches, sets and controlling volume and expression in mainstage or do you use an all in one midi keyboard?
I also play guitar (not through mainstage) so i'm quite used to using a footswitch. Do you preffer using a footcontroller when playing keys or is it easy enough to use a keyboard controller?

I need to either buy a new midi interface or a midi keyboard, what kit is good that you've used?
Whats your thoughts?

means 'connected to'

I guess most people are using the FCB1010 for guitar so they don't need a device that can take more than 1 midi in/out.

I use the FA-66 to connect to our PA. So maybe I should be using the FA-66 for the sole purpose of outputting sound to the PA and using something like this http://www.motu.com/products/midi/micro_usb/ to connect both my Korg Midi Synth and my FCB1010 Midi Footcontroller. Mainstage would then be able to see 2 midi devices coming in via usb and output the sound via the FA-66.

Is there an easier way? One unit that is an audio interface that can take multiple midi in/outs??

Yes, I realized that you meant "connected" but it didn't make sense to me that the items were serially chained as implied by
Macbook pro > Edirol FA-66 > Beringer FCB1010 > Korg X5D

For what it's worth, I use a multi-port (16 ports) MIDI interface to connect all my MIDI devices and I use a separate firewire device to handle audio I/O
