Sidebar in Safari (and Chrome)

I know, I know -- it's a funny request, but:

Is there a way to get a sidebar holding bookmarks and history on either Safari or Chrome? I've seen it on Firefox, but FF is slow, slow, slow.

I use quite a few websites really frequently, so it would be useful to be able to hit a link to each quickly.

I find the 'bookmark bars' along the tops of browsers are useless: you either only get a few bookmarks visible on them, or you have to start creating drop down folders and all sorts.

Cheers,
Jonathan.

Thanks for the post.

I know about that Bookmarks icon. But it's frustrating because it doesn't give a sidebar that can be used alongside my browsing window: the bookmark manager pops up in its place.

It also adds an extra click: I have to hit that icon, then click on the folder my bookmark is in, then on the bookmark.

Is that as far as Safari's capabilities go?

Thanks,
Jonathan.
