iPod Classic to Car Stereo

Until recently I was able to connect my Classic via the usb cable to my Bose MP3 equipped car stereo. The car unit has a specific iPod menu function which allows me to see and control the iPod from the stereo. Recently, the stereo will read all the data on the iPod and show all songs, playlists etc on the stereo screen (as it did before) but now the Classic will not play. I can skip songs and select other playlists but cannot get the Classic to play. Tried another iPod on the stereo and it plays fine. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I also have a problem with my iPod Classic 160GB models. I have two, one old, one new. I just bought the new one to replace my old one, because the old one mysteriously stopped working with my car's connector plug. My son's and wife's (smaller) iPods and an iPod Touch both work just fine with it. The car stereo immediately recognizes it. At first, I just thought I might have damaged the pins, but after placing the brand spanking new one on the pigtail in the glovebox, it also does not get recognized by the car stereo, but the iPod Touch does. So obviously, it's not the car stereo that is the problem. The ONLY thing different between my 2 iPod Classic 160GBs and my other family members' iPods, other than size or model are that they aren't docked/synched at the main computer, but on a separate laptop computer. This only started happening in December. Anyone with ideas on possible solutions, please reply. I'm out another $250.00 apparently, unless I want to simply return the now needless new iPod Classic.
