PowerLook 2100XL scanner operation in OSX

I'm moving my PowerLook 2100XL scanner over to my new MacPro (10.6.2) computer. Does anyone have any experience in operating this scanner in any version of OS X...best driver, software, Photoshop plugin, etc?

Brief background...
I've had this scanner since OS 9.2.2 was the latest and greatest. When OS X came out, the manufacturer never issued a driver for the new OS...still haven't to my knowledge. I kept my older G4 with 9.2.2 just to operate the scanner. All other work done through newer G5. Scans acquired through Photoshop. Great scanner...outside of the lask of OS driver update. However, I now need to conserve space, and it looks like the G4 needs to go. Scanner needs to placed on MacPro.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

G5, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

From what little I've been to gather by visiting other forums and sites, it doesn't look like much help can be expected from umax. Doesn't seem to be much experience out there with this piece of hardware. That's unfortunate, since the 2100XL is an excellent scanner and still performs relatively well with the much older computer and OS. Software support also seems thin with help stopping at Tiger.

One hope is Vuescan -- http://www.hamrick.com/vsm.html. Does anyone have any experience with it?
