Connecting HP PSC 2355 All-in-One printer/scanner using USB cord
I have a Time Capsule that I use to back up both my Mac Mini and my MacBook Pro and would like to connect my HP PSC 2355 All-in-One Printer/Scanner to the network using USB cord and plugging it into the back of my TIme Capsule. I tried this once, but was unable to find the Printer. I would like to set it up so I could use both the Printer and the Scanner from either my MacMini or my MacBook Pro. It would be really cool if I could figure out a way to use Back to My Mac to print when I am away from home and using my MacBook Pro at a WiFi Hotspot. Is this possible? How can I do it? Suggestions? Thank you!
Mac Mini, 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo w/ 4 GB RAM,
Mac OS X (10.5.8),
I also own a 13-inch MacBook Pro w/ 4 gb RAM, currently Running Mac OS 10.5.7
I can help with some support documents on printer troubleshooting. But, before you spend a few hours with this, you should be aware that only the print function is supported for
compatible printers at the USB port on the Time Capsule.
If you need to scan, copy, check ink levels, etc., you will still need to connect the HP directly to your computer.
Hmm . . . Yes, having the support articles would be helpful, especially if one lists the compatible printers. Hopefully mine is among them. Since I would only be able to access the Print function through the network, would it be possible to split the USB cord coming from the Printer so that one cord would go to the Time Capsule, thereby making it's Print function available to both my computers, and one to the Mac Mini itself, so I could use the scanner and check the printer's ink levels? Thank you.

I'm afraid not. The connection must be direct to either the TC or your computer, but not both at the same time.
Apple's
Printer Troubleshooting Guide will guide you through the process of setting up the printer. Unfortunately, Apple does not offer a printer compatibility list, so the only way to really know if your device is compatible is to try to see if it can be configured.
