Wireless keyboard support under Windows 7 x64

Although Windows 7 mostly worked under Boot Camp, I foolishly installed the Boot Camp 3.1 update for x64 Windows 7.

Now Windows 7 can see my Apple wiresless keyboard (the model that looks like a clear tray with white keys), but it will not connect to it. Of course, this is enormously frustrating, and I sure wish that I hadn't installed the Boot Camp drivers!

Does anyone have the slightest idea of how to get Apple's wireless keyboard to work with a 2008 Mac Pro?

Thanks!

More details on my problems with the Apple Bluetooth keyboard:

After a clean Windows 7 install, Windows 7 automatically paired with my Apple Bluetooth keyboard. All was well, except for not having Apple's keyboard shortcuts (volume, eject, etc.).

After installing the Boot Camp drivers, Windows could see my keyboard when it was discoverable, but wouldn't pair. A Windows System Restore to the check point before the Boot Camp drivers was installed, unfortunately did not restore Window's ability to pair with the keyboard. So I'm stuck with a keyboard that won't pair.

Some folks have reported success with various magical acts:
- Typing into the keyboard during pairing
- Deleting the keyboard in Mac OS, and pairing under Windows
- Right clicking the keyboard icon during pairing
- System shutdowns and startups

None of these magical incantations have been successful for me.

Some folks have also reported success with alternate Bluetooth drivers, such as Apple's Broadcom Bluetooth driver. Again unfortunately, none of Apple's drivers have worked for me.

The Apple Bluetooth driver which Boot Camp installs actually seems fine, in the sense that it has no problem pairing with non-Apple Bluetooth devices, such as my Motorola cell phone.

When this initially happened, the only thing that worked for me was another clean Windows install. This is a painful process, as it involves re-installing every application on the machine, along with Microsoft's evil activation process.

At this point, I'm out of ideas.

Updating again,

It is clear that a large number of people are suffering from what is clearly a bug in either Apple's Bluetooth ptotocol stack, or the Apple wireless keyboard driver.

It is unfortunately also clear that Apple has never acknowledged the problem, offered a workaround, or fixed the problem.

While some workarounds, such as those mentioned in my previous post, may offer temporary relief, the fundamental problem remains unaddressed by Apple.

Hello AndromedaComput...
Have you checked compatibility?
Just an FYI for you.

It is always best to check with the software manufacturer FIRST. They will tell you if they have tested the product and the version, as well as whether or not it will work with Windows 7.
Check out the Windows 7 Compatibility site: (There you will find out about hardware and software compatibilty.)
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/en-us/default.aspx
There is a pulldown from which you can choose "hardware" and "software".

There are also some great articles, instructional videos and such to help with your Windows 7 at our Springboard site:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/default.aspx

In any event a lot of the times, Vista drivers will work in lieu of Windows 7 drivers, however, it's not 100%!

As stated previously, it's best to have the Windows 7 certified drivers installed.

Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads available there for additional assitance and support.

Thanks again,
