Candybar Compatible icon/folder sets?

Hi,

I have candybar to modify my icons and folders etc, the trouble is i only have one "full" set that actually works with Candybar, all others i try have to be input manually which takes ages! The set that works is called "Float", i simply add the set and it says "use as system icons" and away we go!
Please post back if you know of any.

Thanks.

there are lots of places with icon sets although very few of them are full. you can combine and mix them and build your own collections. this does take time. check out iconfactory and Interfacelift for icon collections

Thanks,

Your comments pretty much confirmed my fears! lol
It's a shame they are not all like the "float" set i have as they work in one click but i'm so board of them! I got some really cool ones called "Affel" but they are png files and don't work at all, they just go like a preview icon when i install them, gutted because i like them!
Never mind, i'll start with the Float set and manually add others

Thanks again.

you can open any image file in Preview and save it as icns file. you can use the result in Candybar. also, you can use any image file directly to make a custom icon of any particular file/folder (not by using Candybar). again open it in Preview, select all using command+a in preview and then copy to the clipboard using command+c. then select a file/folder whose icon you want to change and enter command+i. in the resulting popup highlight the small icon in the upper left corner and enter command+v to paste the clipboard there.
Never mind, i'll start with the Float set and manually add others

Thanks again.

I think BoyHowdyDoo may have misunderstood your complaint.

Using Candybar, I know that some icon replacement sets you can click on a button labeled *Use These Icons* and all the icons in the set are automatically changed in the CandyBar window. Other sets don't allow you to use this button and you must manually drag them to their appropriate location. This is what you are talking about, yes?

This button is only available if an icon set has been packaged as a CandyBar icon set and even then not all of those activate that button. I've not investigated it but I've always assumed that it was because the icons have to be named exactly correctly and the icon set must be complete.

I may have misunderstood, but I assumed since they were using Candy Bar already that changing icons should not be a problem but instead were trying to change special system icons that have a permission lock on them. When I use Candy Bar I sometimes have to apply the icon via the app tab (Writes to pkg app bundle) then I have to quick drop the icon as well to have it show up in Finder (Even after Finder restart) I found that certain icons would not change no matter what I did. So if this is the case choosing my above route worked for those hard to change icons. Otherwise using any of the methods in Candy Bar will work with the majority of files. Also you may want to install Icon Composer from Xcode tools as you can drop image files there and create 512, 256, 128 etc. and save as icns for Candy Bar import. So say you got a 512 px psd and want to have all the resized versions be accurate. Drop to Icon Designer and your done.
