How to input Japanese on iphone in UK

Hi!
I bought iphone in UK and it works wonderfully. I'd just like to know if there are any way I can type in Japanese in the text? Can I receive the text in Japanese?

As I am Japanese, and I would very much like to communicate with text messaging with my mum in Japan who has no clue if I write in English. She doesn't do computers, just about managing the mobile phones.
It will be a great help if I could do this. I am an only daughter and she is left in Japan all herself... 😟 I would like to communicate with her as often as I can.

Thank you very much for your help, I hope I will find the solution.

All you have to do is select Settings > General > Keyboard > International Keyboards > Japanese and choose Qwerty or Kana. You don't have to change language or region settings. When you have more than one language selected for your keyboard, there will be a globe symbol left of the space key. Tap the globe to switch between keyboards. The space bar key will briefly indicate the language selected.

Enter Japanese Kana:
Use the Kana keypad to select syllables. For more syllable options, tap the arrow key and select another syllable or word from the window.

Enter Japanese QWERTY:
Use the QWERTY keyboard to input code for Japanese syllables. As you type, suggested syllables appear. Tap the syllable to choose it.
