I have a MBA and a SUperdrive for it. I want to read a Mini CD that came with a gadget (contains docs and such). The mini CD is 80mm. I tried pushing it in but it seems not to be picked up and I am wary to push it further in. Can the drive handle this? I found docs that it is not supported, but that is different from it not working.
G4 Cube, MacBook Air, Mac mini C2D, Turbo NeXTdimension Cube
I think superdrive can only support 4x DVD+/-R DL writes, 8x DVD+/-R read/write, 8x DVD+RW writes, 6x DVD-RW writes, 24x CD-R writes, and 16x CD-RW recording, 8x DVD read, 24x CD read.
In this case "not supported" means
don't do it! The drive will not accept the CD (or any non-standard size/shape disk) and as Niel said it may well become stuck in the drive.
If you need to use a 80mm disk or other non-standard disk, you'll need a tray-loading CD/DVD drive.
