is there a way of setting, or choosing only type, HD or SD versions to download, as itunes is downloading both versions which I dont need and taking up extra space on my drive for something i'm never going to use!?

Mac OS X (10.6.2)

When you buy the HD version, you get the SD version (for ipod/iphone/etc).

You can let it download then delete it.

also i realise you must let iTunes complete downloading both versions before it is possible to sync to iphone, ipod, etc.

I logged into suppoprt to see if I could get an answer to this, and it seems the answer is 'tough!'

Apple, come on guys, this must be a simple fix and would save me hours of download time.

Fine for the 50 squillion megabit users, but for me it clogs up my internet connection for another hour, only for me to then delete the standard def version when it's finally done.

Suggestions to Apple will be best submitted through the iTunes feedback page. Your comments will be most likely to get to the proper people within Apple that way.

You can delete the HD version of downloads by checking the stop symbol at the end of the download line. Then command + delete. But it will come back next time you open iTunes and you will have to go thru these steps 2 or 3 or 4 times.

My question: I am currently out of the country and have to pay for "band width". Is ther a way to delete the HD download permanently so I don't have to pay the significant fees on my current internet provider?

Is ther a way to delete the HD download permanently

Why not simply purchase only the SD version?

If you purchase individually, you can purchase the SD or HD versions only. If you purchase the season pass, you get both and must delete. Is there a way to permanently delete a download prior to downloading and not have to repeat the process several times?

No. Only the iTunes Store can delete something in the queue.

And you're mistaken about purchasing individual episodes. You can choose to purchase only the SD version, but if you purchase the HD version you get the SD version automatically and there's no way to select not to receive it.

That is SO ********, I have no words. This would be SO SIMPLE. Just allow me to PERMANENTLY stop a download from coming in, or simply add a "DOWNLOAD HD VERSION ONLY" button, so my download queue is not busy with downloading content I don't want. I'll definitely use that suggestion link up top to write to Apple.

I believe we do have real issue here, and I hope Apple will head our pleas. With the [news out from the NYT|http://nyti.ms/9U5Cb1] that ATT will cease to offer unlimited bandwidth plans to new subscribers for portable devices like the iPhone, the US is joining much of the rest of the world in the need to watch bandwidth usage. This may well affect computer users as well as mobile users, especially those who rely on 3G modems. I certainly count my GBs each month as I am living and working abroad and connect only over a 3G (if I'm lucky) modem (WiFi networks are hard to come by in India after recent political events).

If you feel moved, please do let Apple know, in diplomatic language, that this is important to you.
