How to convert a Preview document to a .doc or Word document

If it's a PDF document then you would need a third-party utility that can convert PDFs to text. You can look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

If it's some other filetype then unless you tell us what the filetype is we have no way of knowing if it can be opened in Word. Perhaps you could provide us an example link to an article you have a problem with.

If you can't find an App to do what you want as Kappy suggested then try Zamzar

You aren't supposed to download MacUpdate or VersionTracker apps. You're supposed to search the sites for a suitable utility. If you find one then you download it from the above sites.

I appreciate it's a service which is why I said to try it if you couldn't find a suitable App by following the links which Kappy provided. If you are only doing a few of these then I figured a free service might do what you need otherwise you would be better to search the sites Kappy suggested
