Microsoft Office X- won't launch anymore

You probably just need to re-install them. My recommendation would be to uninstall them first then do a re-install. Using Finder navigate to the MS Office folder and locate the Remove Office App, then restart your Mac. Once it has restarted then re-install Office.

I think your version of Microsoft Office is too old to work properly with Leopard. There are two later versions now Office 2004 and 2008. Either of the two later ones will work. 2004 will run under Rosetta on Intel Macs. 2008 is a universal version.

MS Office v.X will work with Snow Leopard. I've got it and am using it. I installed it from my Office install disk when I got my new iMac 21.5 inch. It did ask me if I wanted to install Rosetta and I said yes. Now I cannot vouch for how well v.X will work under intense use but it works fine for me so far in light home usage.

Hi there, I have the same problem. Have been using for nearly 2 years and all of a sudden stopped working yesterday. (Started with a crash of Entourage as downloading a big file sent to me 8MB.) No Office programs will even open a doc. I uninstalled and used time machine to reinstall a version from last week. No go. I am really in trouble as I need Word and Power Point daily to do my job! Apple says they can't help.

I'm having the same problem but with Office '08. It has been working fine for almost 2 years then a few days ago I launched it and it gave me an "error" message. I tried to launch several time without success.

I know I need to "uninstall" and "reinstall" so I will do that and see what happens.

Uninstall it and then re-install. You will find the uninstall by typing Command-Spacebar and typing Remove Office.app.

I don't think it is an Intel based problem. I have a G5 iMac and a legal old MS office v.X upgrade on top of office 2001 version. Worked fine until a few weeks ago except for a few years needing to keep current with the latest XML free MS converter. Repaired disk/permissions. Dug out all of the app/preferences from my user/library. Reinstalled and it checked with MS mothership. However, still crashes on launch. I think perhaps the most recent OSX security update?

Doesn't work on my new Intel iMac either. Powerpoint does work but Word won't. I can't figure it out. But apparently I don't have to wait long for the new version to come out (October).

I ran into the same thing about 2 weeks ago after trying to open an excel 2007 file emailed to me from a windows machine. I tried re-installing, etc. and nothing worked, but I created a new account on my mac and office works on the new account. I moved all my office files (except for the one that I think caused all this) to the new account and everything works fine.
