Apple Service Diagnostic 2.5.8 help

I downloaded ASD 2.5.8 and burned the image to disc. I restart and hold the "c" button down, and nothing happens. Is there any other way I can run ASD besides the holding down "c" option? I believe I have the respective version of ASD for my powermac G5 early 2005. Any help is appreciated.

Also im using a non-apple wireless keyboard set-up. Could that be the issue?

Hi Dubez, and a warm welcome to the forums! 🙂

A USB KB would be best, but have you tried selecting it in System Preferences>Startup Disk?

Of course that'll lead to problems of how to eject it so it'll start of the HD.

In addition to the other comments, depending on your source for the download perhaps the bootleg version is corrupt?

Thanks Guys... I will take all of these into consideration. Im just trying to get my computer running properly. Although the comp is almost 5 years old, I refuse to believe that I have a $2400 paper weight, which i was told by apple... 😉

Wireless keyboards aren't recognized early enough in the boot process to select your startup dis.

Also, I believe that you need to be holding down the option key (normally the same as the alt key if you're using a PC keyboard) to get the boot menu. It usually takes some time before it'll show all the boot choices, including the Apple Service Diagnostic tests.

Thanks this definitely helped. Still having problems getting thru the test without the computer crashing. I finally got the Diagnostic OF and OSx to pass. So I dont know where to go from there.
