Sent mail duplicated as draft

I think this might work:

go to mail preferences->accounts->mailbox behavior and uncheck the box to store drafts on server.

I have been having the same problem, checked preferences and store drafts on server is unchecked.
When I compose a new message, depending on how long it takes me, there are 8 to 20 drafts of the message in the Drafts folder, all of which are blank.

Also, when I delete an email, it does not go into the Trash folder and I can only undo once

I am having the same problem. It is very annoying since I have to check the sent folder each time. I checked the preferences and the option to save the draft on server is not checked. I have an IMAP account, could that be an issue?

Same here. Do the Apple folks ever chime in here and give us the solution?

No ... AFAIK the only thing to do is report an error to tech support.

Same problem here...and now my IMAP connection is not working. Never completes the send. The second issue just started one day ago, the multiple draft emails started about a week ago. It occurred with 10.6.2. and 10.6.3.

I'm having Sent mail end up again in Draft, but am getting a Swish and confirmed deliveries. This should be a easy fix...right? Anybody have the latest/greatest idea? I recently changed over to Imap from Pop to allow multiple deliveries to devices; this is when it started. Using a T1 service and my account there is not experiencing this when logged onto/reveiw mail on it.

FWIW I have used imap for a long time and there was never a problem until the most recent OS upgrade.

I see lots of agreement on this problem but no one has offered a solution yet.. has anyone got an answer to this issue.

I did notice the message about unchecking the draft saving to the server' however I am worried this may affect the ability to work on emails from different location ie; iPhone and over mobile me.

Having this too. No solution so far. Time to switch to Thunderbird I guess.
