Q: Failed 3x crash service down

I'm running Final Cut Studio 7. I have an Dual Quad Core Intel Xeon 2.66 Mhz Mac
I'm using Leopard 10.5.8 Ever since I got Final Cut Studio 7 Installed, I have not been able to use Compressor. I have tried clearing the batch folder, repairing permissions, un-installing and re-installing Qmaster & Compressor.

All I get is Failed 3x crash service down.

Mac G5 2.0 GHZ, Mac OS X (10.5.8), 6 GIGS Ram

    Hi all,

Just to say that anti-alias seems to be the problem for me too; switching it on will make it crash, switch it off and it encodes.

Has anyone actually got anti-aliasing to work again after doing any of the fixes that are suggested in the forums?

Hello. I'm now experiencing this problem across 3 seperate FCP systems...
With Final Cut Studio 2 on my MacBook Pro, I started getting this issue intermittently about 6 months ago. Running Compressor Repair (free), restarting and choosing Compressor > Reset Background Processing from the menubar seems to occasionally get me going again, but I'm not sure what order.

I am also now working with two MacPros, one of which is a few years old (the specs escape me) the other is a brand new 12 core. Both running FCS 3 - compressor 3.5

I'm doing some basic compressions as well as do some up-converting with the Optical Flow options... I've turned the anti-aliasing down to 0 which seemed to help temporarily but even so, we're finishing a big project documentary project with lots of archival footage and are seriously trying to avoid an expensive Teranex up-conversion process.

Im still having getting this error with compressor when making h.264 with anti-aliasing. None of the work arounds mentioned in the previous post work for me and I was actually able to recreate the "3x crash" error on a machine in an Apple Store.

Please get to the bottom of this, Apple. This one hurts.

my testing was consistent in that with the best settings- Resize Filter, Deinterlace, Adaptive Details checked and combination whatsoever of any value above 0 on the sliders for Anti-alias and Details Level gave me the 3x crash. if one of them was 0 then I had no issue. Curtis

I had the same problem. After reading this post I decided to tweak the settings in the inspector (after choosing DVD Best Quality 90 minutes preset). I just checked on the "Include Chapter Markers only" on the EXTRAS tab and everything is fine. Dang Apple, get it together - please.

Turn off Perian: System Preferences, Perian Control Panel: Click on "Remove Perian"

I had this error, tried many things, but shutting off Perian did the trick. If you need Perian, you can reinstall using that same control panel. I did not have to restart or quit/restart any applications.

Perian? That can't be it because I don't have that installed.

Turning off and back on the Frame Controls fixed the error for me too. And Compressor has been working fine for everything until this one video.

    Thanks for the tip!

Back up your system drive to an external firewire disk then completely erase your system drive.

Install OSX fresh from the disks. Update it. Run repair permissions.
Install the ProApps fresh from disks. Update them. Run repair permissions.

If this doesn't work, the problem lies within the computer hardware.

Just got this problem for the first time.
Adaptive checkbox seems to be the cause.
But turning "details" to 0 seems to allow it to work. Antialias set to 50.
Thanks to this forum I at least came upon that workaround. But pretty lame that this bug has existed for so long. And no, "wipe your hard drive clean and reinstall everything" is not an acceptable remedy. Sort of like if your doc says "take 2 aspirins and call me in the morning", except more like "saw off your leg, hop around the block 10 times on your other leg, and then sew the leg back on ... and don't ever call me again."

I never had this problem until recently. But I'm compressing audio only (DTS in this case) with presets that were working OK and now all of a sudden throw this 3x crashreport at me...

So no tweaking with chapter-marks of other image-settings for me.

Did any of you ever hear of an official Apple-reply regarding this issue?
