No SIM card installed message

I just dropped my iphone 3gs, and got a message that said "no SIM card installed". I tried turning the phone of then back on again, but the message is still there. In the green phone icon is shaded out and says "no SIM". Anybody know how to fix this?

iphone 3gs, iPhone OS 3.1.3

Start by removing the SIM card, wiping it off, the reinstall it. If you dropped it the SIM may have been jarred loose.

Well, the most effective way to find out is to read the manual. If you look at the top of the phone there is a small hole next to the earphone jack. Shove the end of a paper clip in this hole and you can slide out the tray that holds the SIM card. Reseat the card in the tray and push it back in.

yea so i went and updated my iPhone 3GS (my 3rd one there a peice of **** and im going to probably switch to the blackberry storm)and so what do you know its ***** up again but this time its sumthin tottally new sayin that the sim card is invalad went b4 i updated it worked fine not a probably the 3G worked on fine and now it does this and theres no fido or rogers (canadian carriers around) so is there anyway to fix it or am i ******?
