iTunes 9.0.3 Equalizer not working when playing podcasts

I have discovered that the iTunes 9.0.3 Equalizer is not working when playing podcasts.
Even the simple "Preamp" gain control of the EQ has no effect (and considering that it has an adjustment range of +/- 12dB it's action should be fairly obvious).

Can anyone else verify this?

macbook core 2 duo, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

I get the iTunes own Equalizer settings to work on my audio podcasts.

Right-click on podcast > get info > Alternative > Equalizer settings (Drop-down menu)

Thanks for the reply. I can certainly select the EQ presets using your method, but they make no audible difference on a podcast, while on a non podcast file (music or voice, and all formats from wav to MP3) they are clearly audible.

Yes you're right. I tested on a audio (mpeg-3) Podcast, and it worked.
Then I tested on a video podcast (mpeg-4), and as you said, no audioble difference.

Not sure if there's a solution to this, or if we're just have to live with it.
