Cannot resize cell in table w/o text disappearing

Hi:

I have been trying to shrink a cell to fit/center 9 pt. text, but every time I shrink a row below a certain size the text will be hidden. Usually (in Word documents...) when resizing rows/cells the text will automatically move according to the cell size. I need a certain number of rows/columns per page but can't fit the text in the cell without a plus sign appearing in the right hand corner of the cell.

Thanks for any help!!!

You aren't using Word but Pages, is it surprising that they behave differently ?
Certainly not !
Happily (from my point of view) shrinking the cell width doesn't change the size of characters.
As cells of a column are supposed to have the same width, use the described feature : double click the column's right edge in the in the row of tabs to adjust the width to the wider contained string.

Thank you! (especially Peter...)

I just downloaded iWork trial yesterday so I'm just trying to get the hang of things. I'm glad you understood what I was trying to troubleshoot as I could not copy/paste an example of my problem.

As to KOENIG's response, I certainly did not say I was surprised that the programs behaved differently. I was merely trying to describe what I was able to do in Word documents and not in iWork so that perhaps my problem could be made more clear. However, I still appreciate the response.
