rackmounting a 21.5 iMac

Hey all,

This is a bit frustrating!!! I love the new iMacs, a whole lot of bang for the buck and I would like to use them in a couple of installations that I'm doing for clients. I want to VESA mount them in a standard 19" rack. I know the unit is too wide for the rack - also frustrating, but in one installation it could just be mounted off of the rack externally and that would be fine. I know the 27" is made for VESA mounting. Does anyone have any insight into how to do this? Apple seriously needs to get it together and make a rack mount Mac for media professionals, at least media pros think so.

There's a fixed one at Markertek that might work -- I've been looking at trying this as well...

27" iMac dimensions:
Height:
20.4 inches (51.7 cm)
Width:
25.6 inches (65.0 cm)

So, your overall rack width would have to allow 25.6" width, unless you rotate the iMac 90 degrees.
