Japanese/American iPod Questions

Hey all, thanks for reading.

I'm a native English-speaker working abroad in Japan. I'm thinking about buying an iPod Touch, but there are a couple of things I want to be certain of before I make the purchase. Namely:

(1) If I buy an iPod here, will it be compatible with wi-fi back in the States (I assume this to be the case, but I'd like to be entirely certain)?

(2) Will I be able to access the US Applications Store and install them to a Japanese iPod?

Any help you could give me in this regard would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch!

Yes. 802.11 WiFi standards are world-wide.

You will not be able to use the US iTunes/App Store while you're in Japan, but once you're back in the US there should be no problem. The worst case I can envision is that you might have to restore your iPod and then re-load the apps and other content you already have.

Regards.
