Change format to DCF or Exif or JFIF?

I bought a Sony digital frame...found that if photos are "edited on a computer" or are "progressive" jpeg, they aren't compatible. Reading online, there is a PC program called Irfanview which I understand will batch change formats but doesn't work on a Mac. I checked GraphicConverter but it doesn't seem to change to DCF, JFIF or Exif. Since I'm not sure just what iPhoto does in editing (does it create a "progressive" jpeg? I'm not sure what the issue is. (jpeg is listed as an accepted format but only "original" files work)

Any suggestions? I love the frame and want to give it as a Valentines Day gift.

Go back to Graphic Coverter and check it out more thoroughly. Then clarify your terms:

DCF is a directory structure for digital cameras. I've yet to come across a file with a .dcf suffix. Have you got some?

Exif is a system of metadata for photos, written to the photo file, not a file format. You can' convert a photo to exif any more than you can convert a music file to ID3.

JFIF is a file format closely related to Jpeg and Graphic Converter will export JFIF compatible files.

It will also output non-progressive files.

Thank you for your help. I got Graphic Converter and used it for some of the files. I was eventually able to transfer all my photos to the frame.
You clarified some differences between the files that I did not understand.
