DVD Drive door won't open -- G5 Tower

Hey Guys!

The DVD drive door on my G5 Tower (2.3 dual processor) will not open on its own. If I try to eject it, I hear the motor like you normally do when a DVD is ejected from a computer, but the door does not open. After a bit it gets remounted. I can slide the door down myself with my fingers (it can move) and then if I eject the disk it will eject. How can I fix this so that the external door opens on its own?

thanks!
KK

Not common as far as I know, but from how I surmise they work, it seems so in you case.

It may be that it's come loose internally or you could readjust the whole case, not sure.

I've never gotten a CD/DVD drive to work proper again after actually opening it and playing with it's innards.

Well, if it moves freely, then I suppose you could check internally if the door's lever is bent or something, but I was thing if there were a little slack in the Drives mechanics it would interpret the door opening a tat too late as you pushed it back in, but you could probably test that by holding the door open, ejecting but blocking the tray to see how sensitive it is.
