Error 1479

Trying to update Ipod touch to s/w version 3.1.3 and receive unknown error occurred(1479), has anyone experienced this error and how did you fix it?

That's a strange one.

What security software do you have installed on the PC? (Firewall, antivirus, antispyware?)

I guess you'll have to download the firmware again and restore. Search for this folder C:\Documents and Settings\<username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software and copy the *ipsw files to a safe place in case you'll need them again. Then delete the original files.
If you restore again, iTunes will download a new copy of the firmware and hopefully this file is not damaged.

I don't usually associate Trend Micro with this sort of thing ... but I do see issues with it interfering with iTunes installs every now and then.

By way of experiment, try temporarily disabling the Tren Micro and trying another update. Does it go through properly this time?
