Can't sync iphone with new HP laptop even after F.13 bios update

I've downloaded the f.13 bios drivers for my Hp-dv7-3080us and still cannot sync my iphone 3gs. It says "itunes cannot read the contents of the iphone. Go to the summary tab and click restore to restore the phone to the factory settings." I've tried this once and it deleted everything on my phone but did not fix the issue. Any ideas?

HP Pavilion 3080us, Windows 7, 64bit

Did you then do the 'Restore from backup' bit by right clicking on the iPhone in the left hand menu in iTunes ?

I do not have a backup. It is a brand new 3gs.

Okay ..... so if its deleted everything, you have a clean phone. What is the issue then - I am not clear ?

When I plug the phone into the computer, itunes opens up with a little pop up window that reads, "itunes cannot read the contents of the iphone. Go to the summary tab and click restore to restore the phone to the factory settings."

Doublechecking something. Are you up to date on the *Essential System Updates for Microsoft Windows 7* update available at your downloads page at HP?

(It includes at least one USB-related hotfix, and I tend to trust HP when they recommend applying hotfixes to their models.)

My issue has been resolved. I updated everything but still no joy, so I took it into the apple store. They restored it to the factory settings, and it worked fine after that. I took it home and no more problems. Thanks for the help.
