Apple Remote - pairing won't work (but the remote itself works fine)

Hi all,

Bought a new Apple Remote yesterday from the Apple Store in Sydney - one of the the ones that looks like http://www.geeky-gadgets.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/new-apple-remote.jpg.

The new remote works fine on both my 27" iMac and my girlfriend's 21" iMac so I'm assuming the functionality of the remote is fine.

The other Apple Remote we have (the older & smaller white one) works fine too and pairs with the 21" iMac. The new remote also pairs with the 21" iMac properly.

NEITHER remote will pair with the 27" iMac. The 27" iMac is running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and the 21" iMac is running Leopard 10.5.8.

Can any suggest why this might be? As I said, both remotes work fine with the 27" iMac, it's just the pairing that won't work (i.e. the chain-link symbol never appears).

Thanks!

27" iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

Ok, chalk this one up to all round weirdness. Disabled the remote completely in System Preferences, re-enabled it again, unpaired (for some reason it said there was a remote paired even though I hadn't paired one yet) and paired the new remote again. Now everything is good and the new remote seems to have paired properly.

Odd. 🙂
