Memory Stick Duo Pro HG vs SDHC

I am planning on purchasing a Sony HD camera which records in AVCHD and has 16 GB of internal flash memory. Additional memory can be added using a Sony Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick Pro Duo or a Memory Stick Pro-HG Duo (each version increasingly more expensive). This new Sony will also record to a SD/SDHC card (much less expensive).

I've read about the Sony's cards, and the difference seems to be in the transfer speeds, although I don't know if that refers to information being recorded ONTO the card, OR if it means the speed of downloading (or in the case of FCE "ingesting") onto the computer.

It seems that if I wanted to purchase two or three of the 16GB cards, it would be much less expensive to go with the SDHC cards.

Am I missing something? Is there any advantage to me in buying one of the Sony Memory Stick Duo models if it is only to be used for recording and capturing/downloading video onto my computer?

Thanks in advance. I realize this technically isn't an FCE question, but, over the years, I've found this forum to be an amazing resource of information.
