Reotyzini Level 1 Level 1
I downloaded the update for iTunes and it failed to install. I tried re-downloading it and re-installing it and it told me "The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem. The installation cannot continue. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator."

I looked around and someone said they fixed this problem by changing the installation directory from C:\Program Files\iTunes to C:\Program Files\iTunes_2 so that the installer wasn't trying to overwrite the old files or something. I tried this and it did not fix the problem. Additionally, I tried running the file as an administrator (even though I am the admin), and that didn't work either.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Okay. Try right-clicking on the folder, and selecting "Properties". Click the "Security" tab. Select the name of your user account in the list.

Do you have full control over the folder? If not, and you grant yourself full control, are you subsequently able to rename the folder?

Doublechecking ... did you change the name of the iTunes folder, or the QuickTime folder mentioned in your error message?

I just tried and I can neither navigate, delete, nor rename that folder. It tells me "access is denied"

Awesome! That did the trick. I was able to delete the folder and, after restarting my computer, iTunes successfully installed. Thank you so much.
