Hi All,

i'm using my 3gs to import some contacts in VCF format.

I not use any mail program like outlook or similar. So, i send che VCF file in my gmail, or any other mail o http server, and i still to download the file to import the vcf, but safari say that cannot download the document. I touch the mime type in case i use apache http server, or use any webmail, but the result is the same. So How I can Import my vcf contacts?

3GS, iPhone OS 3.1.3

The iPhone's Mail app doesn't support .vcf files. You need to import them into whatever contact app you use on your computer that you sync your iPhone with (Outlook, Windows Address Book, etc.) then sync them to your phone. Or enter the contact details manually.

O_o What the ****?!?!? No support for VCF files?

VCF are standard trade format for internet contacts, and I can't believe that iPhone can't natively import that.....

You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

The iPhone is designed to be synced with a contact management program (Outlook, Mac Address Book etc.) on your computer. It's far easier to just import contacts into that and sync to the phone rather than manually emailing them to the phone and importing them there. Syncing also means you have all your important contact data in multiple places, and backed-up.

iPhone, is a mobile and multimedia advanced phone, with a tool like Safari, and the least that I expect is to import contacts, if them come from a standard way.

So, if for some reason I had some VCF files, obtained from various systems, for example like an ERP/CRM/GROUPWARE, that is not also a standard program like Outlook or others, I can't import them, even VCF is a standard from the far 1995 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VCard) create also by Apple.

So a webapp, or not, an attach in a mail, if is VCard to add a new contact, result impossible to add in iPhone.

Syncing the iPhone, is a different operation, very importand and useful for backup, but not for import.

So they "right way" is to import VCF in to a mail program, and next "sync" the iPhone.

    The awful way i say.

Briefly, I am figuring a web application that permit download VCF files, or something else that send a mail to my iPhone with a VCF attached, to add new contacts, result impossible to add in iPhone, and it is a big lack.

So, I put my feedback. Tnx to all.
