Can't Connect to Google Sites, YouTube, Yahoo

A couple of things to narrow down on a solution:
Do you use WiFi to connect to the internet? Try an ethernet cable.
If that also doesn't work, reset your router and restart your MacBook and try again using both WiFi and an ethernet connection.

Other users in the forum appear to have traced this problem to an application called PeerGuardian. Do you have it installed?

I am experiencing the same exact problem with google/yahoo/youtube. It says "Problem loading page" or "can't connect to site." I do not have Peerguardian or Peerblock installed and I have a secure cable connection. Any ideas?

When you log in as another user, it also happens?

I never set up another user but yes it happens with both Firefox and Safari.

If you open a terminal and type 'host google.com', does it respond with a list of IP addresses?
If you then type 'ping google.com', do you get a reply?

Yes. It responds with 6 IP addresses
Then when I typed in PING, it ht back with 56 date bytes.
Does that give you any ideas?

Well, what this tells us, is that the issue seems really limited to the browsers, not to the underlying OS, or something external (like a router gone bad).

I'd say double-check there isn't some proxy server configured:
Apple menu -> System preferences -> Network icon. From the list of devices click on Integrated Ethernet, then on the Proxies tab. No proxy should be configured.

Then if that's not the case, you could create another user and see whether it's also occurring there.

And another thing to check, would be to remove/install Firefox again, or download and install Google Chrome browser.

I have almost the same problem: I can't connect to google neither google applications like google wave , gmail and even google chrome have problems too!
I'm a student in a campus and the others students doesn't have this problem and when I switch off my proxys, the problem remains...
I really don't know what to do, I'll be pleased if you can help me...

A french student, who spend half an hour to write this little message, trying not to make too many mistakes...

PS: I also tried to host and ping google.com, I've also 6 IP adresses and I reveive 64 bytes from the last IP adress.

After changing your DNS, did you clear the DNS cache? Otherwise it wouldn't change things right away. Open the terminal and type:

dscacheutil -flushcache

I Can't connect only Youtube last 3 days and cant find the reason! Im using firefox. Can anybody help me about this. Thank you! There is no blocked websites in my settings btw
