how to add subtitles for a movie on iDVD menu

Hello, can you explain in few steps, or is there any guide or tutorial to learn how to add subtitles stored in a folder to the menu when i create a DVD with i DVD8 in order to play them as option to the movie? and which is the best video format for this purpose? thank you very much.

iMac 8.1 24" Core Duo 3.06 GHZ, Mac OS X (10.5.7), 4 GB RAM 1TB

Hi

No - It doesn't work like that.

To get Subtitles - You need to do a second movie with this.

Different languages = 1 more movie per language.

iDVD is an amateur program not at all a Pro-tool

May be DVD Studio pro can do this in a more clever way.

Just to add material to a video-DVD - Yes this can be done by adding
extra material.

I just can't figure out howto add a folder to the iDVD project - but it is there somewhere.

Figured it out

Under Advance menu there is the last menu - Edit DVD-ROM

Here a folder with extra material can be added.

Hello again, I added the subtitles the way you suggested but unfortunately the DVD came out without the text. what has gone wrong? it seems that there is no connection between the video and the subtitles. how can i get the subtitles displayed? thank you.

As far as I know, neither iDVD or Roxio's Toast support subtitle tracks. DVD SP (part of Final Cut Studio) seems to do so.

As i only need one subt. language, i wonder if i should first make the video file with the subtitles burned on it.

That's the approach I'd take.

You are right, so meanwhile I have purchased a license of Roadmovie app. What i am trying is to make a DVd with iDVD from an already subtitled .mov video file now.
