Copy and pasting...Error -32???

Hey, wondering if anyone can help.

I am having problems copying and pasting folders to a memory stick or an external, and get this error code up (error code -36).

This happens, whether the folder is a couple of KB or several GB. I am not sure what to do, any help is really appreciated.

Thanks,

Ash

Again, to copy files or folders onto the stick drag the file or folder onto the icon of the stick. Do not do a copy paste. If a folder cannot be copied for some reason find out why. What is in the folder? How large is the folder (gb)? How large is the stick (gb)? How much room is on the stick (gb)?

Don't try to paste it — just drag and drop it. You wouldn't paste a real folder onto a real desk or into a real file drawer, and that metaphor doesn't make sense on a Mac either.

If you can't drag and drop it onto the flash drive's icon, can you drag and drop it onto a newly-created empty folder on the desktop? Can you drag and drop other files and folders onto the flash drive OK?

A -36 error is a disk I/O error. Your ISO file may be corrupt (and therefore can't be read properly from the disk it resides on or copied accurately to the target volume). Or the target volume itself or the cable connecting it may be damaged.

Click once on the ISO file and then type Command+D to duplicate it (this makes an exact copy of it where it resides now). Does that work, or do you get a -36 error doing that, too? If you do, the file or your hard drive has a problem.

Please try this and tell us what happens if you'd like to narrow down the cause of your problem:

Eror code 0 is "Unidentified error", so unfortunately that's no help at all. But since you aren't even able to duplicate the file in the same place where it already exists (and where you've told us there is plenty of free space for another copy of it), I have to conclude that the file is corrupt and unusable.
