Ipod Nano 5thG quality of sound

I have just bought an Ipod Nano 5thG 16gb as I needed more memory. I am very disappointed that the quality of sound is so poor compared to my other Nano (4thG). The new Nano sound is very 'tinny' compared to the 4thG and I cannot seem to adjust it so that I get the rich sound I am used to. I am used to playing opera and classical music through good earbuds. The sound when used on an Ipod speaker dock, however, is good. Does anyoneelsae have this problem?

It is a bit unusual, I believe it is a hardware issue, send it for service.

I listen to everything from jazz to metal to opera. No country. My 5G sounds good. Just about everything is encoded at 320 though, usually from flac files converted to wav files, then to 320 mp3. I use an analog stereo cable to my receiver and Westone Professional series earphones. Sounds great. Good luck.

Yes I am having the same issue. Plus when I use earbuds the songs sound as if they play at a different speed. Like a warped record with crackling noise. I have atime set up for Apple service to call me today I will post anything that might be helpful.

My Ipod Nano 5th Generation worked wonderfully for over 2 months. But when I put the earphones back in after plugging it into an IHome and playing it, the sound is suddenly very tinny. Does anyone know if the IHome may have caused this and how I can fix it?

Im assuming you tried to set the equalizer settings in ipod?

My new iPod sounded very 'tinny' too and by pushing the earphones into the jack quite firmly, a proper connection has been made. I'm so pleased that it sounds just as good as my beloved old iPod!
