In this case this might be the culprit.
I can't get a cd to import into iTunes. The computer won't even recognize the cd. When I insert the cd into the cd drive the drive just spins for a while then spits the cd back out. At first I thought it was a defective cd but it will play on a regular cd player. I brought the cd back to the store and exchanged it for another identical cd but this one also can't be recogniezed by the computer. I have since imported a different cd into iTunes, so the problem is not with the software. The specific cd is Madonna's Confessions on a Dance Floor. Does the record company somehow have the cd blocked so it will not play? I have imported over 200 cd's and have never encountered this problem. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there a way to fix the cd? I want to listen to the music on my iPod but can't unless there is a way to import.

Does the cover say anything about copy protection / restriction or dualdisk?

Hello. I had the same problem.
The CD reads fine on a pc.
I made a copy via iTunes on the pc and imported it into my mac with the copy.
Did anyone figure out why the original will not be read on the mac?

Shawn,
The warning is quite normal.
Could you please be so kind to test this disk on another computer - Windows ord Mac.

I have the same problem with A-Ha new release: "Analogue". The back cover of the jewellcase has this leyend after the tracks: "+Desktop Player". I may think the CD contains a player for the CD that isn't Mac friendly or something.
No, there is nothing that says that the cd is copy protected, restricted or dualdisk, only a warning about unauthorized copying. But every disk that I own has a unauthorized copying warning. That shouldn't be the problem.
I didn't have any problems. iTunes imported just fine and it plays back fine. Is it possible that the disk may be bad or encoded for a different region like they do DVD's?
