perfect/suggested wallpaper size?

I'm a little bit of a dab hand at photoshop and I've been looking to make a wallpaper for my ipod touch (for the locked/passcode screen) and I've tried so many size of image and they either get squished up small or stretched out big. I just wondered what is the suggested/perfect size for an image to be set as an ipod touch wallpaper? (:
