Using cwmx.com as your SMTP server

Hi guys - I have an ISP that won't let me send mail through their SMTP server when I'm not connected to their network (via my wifi). Therefore, for over a year I've been sending via cwmx.com. I've never, ever had an issue, until recently.

Suddenly none of my emails are getting through to their recipients. I've sent about 10 test emails to different servers, and no luck. I'm getting no error whatsoever - and I'm also seeing all emails leave my outbox and land in sent items as if there are no issues.

Anyone experiencing the same problem?

As an FYI, it isn't your ISP that is preventing this. Most, if not all ISPs block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network or not provided by the ISP being used for your internet connection at the time unless the SMTP server is authenticated.

A message will not be placed in the account's Sent mailbox unless the message was successfully sent. What happens to a message after it was successfully sent has nothing to do with the email client or the SMTP server used to send the message.

Well you're correct. Most ISPs block this due to how easy it is to spoof something through port 25. I also don't feel it's an email client issue (so no, probably has nothing to do with the iphone but I did want to connect with other cwmx users). However, once the message is send and therefore put in my sent items, I find it very strange that NO emails are making it through. I even tried to email myself with no luck. Are there any other servers to try?

As far as you know, and I realize this isn't a Google forum, but can you use googles smtp server on any network just as people use at&t's? Or are you saying I should change my email address to a new gmail acct? I've had my current email address for 10 years so I'm probably not going to change just because I can't send using the iphone network's servers. There has to be a way to report the issue. I may call AT&T and see if they can assist.
