Replica dosent accept Master root password

Hi guys,
I have two XServes running a full updated OS X Server 10.6.2, one is a Open Directory Master and the other I want to use as a replica, the replica is at another site on another IP address range even though I can ping both servers from each other and the DNS records are fine the replica wont accept the masters root password even tho I've verified the root password works by the terminal.

Server logs dosent display anything that I can see odd either

Have I missed anything? any help or suggestions would be greatly received
