Well done Timo75.. your idea worked - I wanted Column view not list but it works the same.
I did not use Tinker Tool, I used the System Pane "Secrets"
Hope this helps others.

Currently Being ModeratedJan 25, 2011 3:49 AM (in response to Philip Chapman)Here's what I've done. Make a new folder inside your iDisk, and set the view options for the new folder (CMD-J) as you wish. Next, put the alias for this new folder on your Desktop - or your Finder's Sidebar and Toolbar if you prefer. For some ridiculous reason the iDisk "folder" is stuck in Icon View.macbook pro 2.7, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

We have finally found a solution to this issue via the following website:
1. Open the iDisk volume
2. Show view options from the view menu (command J)
3. Check the always open in icon view box
4. Whilst leaving the view options windows open, change the view to As List from the View menu
5. Then untick the always open in icon view box and watch it change to always open in list view.
6. Tick the box again to complete.
Hopefully your headache is solved as ours was... Many thanks to D. Smith.
