Bootcamp Drivers for Ubuntu Linux?

After my windows xp bootcamp broke on me I decided I'm now going to try ubuntu linux bootcamp instead. What I'm wondering is how do the bootcamp drivers work with this? Aren't they made just for a windows partition? Is there something I need to do differently to install them or do I just not install them? Thanks.

Macbook6,1, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

Hi and welcome to Discussions,

Apple only provides BootCamp Windows Drivers on the OSX installation DVD and/or for download.
Nothing else.

Just as an idea, have a look at VirtualBox http://www.virtualbox.org/ to install and use Ubuntu in a Virtual Machine.
Quite a lot of people use it for that.

No bootcamp drivers available and i recommend that you use command line to partition and format the drive appropriately, Linux likes EXT3 formatting.

Be prepared to be in command line for quite a bit of time to get your Linux install working effectively.

There is no switcher and you have to modify the the GRUB boot loader and boot sequence such that MacOS boots first.

You WILL have to hunt for various LInux drivers from the various repositories and/or aptget etc.....

But problems may be getting Wifi connectivity.

Also the usual things like having to install MP3 codecs, PDF viewers, AAC codecs etc......These are not included in the default Ubuntu experience as as they are subject to licences and not GNUs.

Once complete it will work well enough.
