delete photos from iPhone after import

I don't believe that it does, either in Aperture or iPhoto. I have imported into each and chosen to delete after import but it never does the deletion.

I simply delete on the iPhone post import by selecting all images and deleting them.

Something is wrong then as I use the delete after import in iPhoto for years and its always worked for me.

I did notice it seems to be missing from A3 though.

this is too bad. I think i'll switch back to iPhoto just because of this missing feature. This is the main reason why I use iPhoto, not waste time importing, deleting synchronising my photos.

Solutions is the one 2 posts above. Use Image Capture, you can have it capture it, transfer pictures to Aperture, delete them from iPhone (or camera) - I like it better because I rather have the Capture date than the unnamed project. (or projects not sure how to use them yet)

This thread should not be marked "solved"... Using an external app to do something that the program should do internally is not a "solution"... it's a workaround.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this is ridiculous.

This works easily. I use aperture, but it doesn't matter where you initially import to, iPhoto, etc.

*After importing* if you want to clear your iPhone of all photos in the camera roll, re-import using Image Capture (applications folder) into Preview. Select delete after import. The photos are temp and not imported again. Your iPhone camera roll will be cleared.

I have found a way to do this with no extra steps in my workflow.

Open Image Capture. Open Image Capture Preferences. Choose "Image Capture" for "When a camera is connected, open: " Close Preferences. Click Options. Check "Delete items from camera after downloading" and "Automatically download all items". Click OK. Choose "Aperture" for "Automatic Task:". You may select any location for "Download To:"

Now your system is setup correctly. To see this in action, close Image Capture and Aperture if they are open. Connect your iPhone and Image Capture will open, it will import your photos, delete them from your iPhone and close. Aperture will open and import your photos to a new Untitled Project. You will have to find this project and manually rename it. I am unsure if Aperture will split the projects correctly, but I'll find out in a few days.

It would be nice to have this as an option in Aperture 3, but this method seems to work well in the mean time. I hope this clears up any confusion.

this method (using image capture) did not import videos from my iphone (3GS) but deleted them after importing all the photos…

so *DO NOT USE IMAGE CAPUTRE* if you are trying to import video into aperture as well. or i am missing something. anyhow… i just lost all videos of a trip.

if anybody has an idea if the videos are somehow sitting in some cache place where image capture put them… please help me.



update: i found i am not alone…

and to answer my own question: yes, there is a hidden folder at /private/tmp/ that has all the deleted movies inside… puhf !

I have Photo Library (10) iPhone (5) TemporaryItems (1) which appear to be duplicates of iPhone.

How can i get all of these off my iPhone????? There is no delete button. It was easy enough to do on iPhoto on my computer. When I use the USB to try and upload to computer to iPhoto to delete these photos do not show up.

Can you give more info on the use of this? Your screenshot is in a different language than the actual script and I'm having a hard time deciphering how to use this correctly.
