Edirol FA-66 audio interface not recognised

Hello all,

I have recently purchased an Edirol FA-66 firewire audio device to record with. Unfortunately the device is not recognised automatically by OS X, which is strange since it uses the coreaudio subsystem instead of dedicated drivers.

1. Has anyone else had this problem
2. Is there a neat workaround (reinstall coreaudio??)

I don't want to have to reinstall OSX if possible! The box works fine in standalone mode and also (irritatingly!) on my 6 year old PC.

All the best,
Jason

Hi.

The sample rate switch in the back panel of the FA-66 has to be set at the same sample rate as the internal audio devices (in Applications/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup).
Also, use a top quality (usually from a reputed brand) FireWire cable, without any adapter. Sometimes, the bundled cables are not up to par with the device. I can tell from experience

Good Luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately driver reinstall is not an option as the FA-66 is designed to use the coreaudio subsystem built into OS X (why I chose the FA-66 in the first place!!). The forums have proved unhelpful, there seems to be ni definitive answer. I have asked Roland for some help but, predictably, they are taking their time to reply!
