Aperture 3: How to apply keywords to multiple photos?

Hi,
I'm trying to apply keywords to multiple photos at once but if I select several photos and add a keyword in the 'metadata' panel it just gets applied to one of the selected photos, not all of them. Is this a bug or am I just doing it wrong?

I select multiple photo's in my browser and drag the keyword over one of the photo's and all are updated. There may be another way but this is how I've done it.

You can use the Lift & Stamp Tool to apply the metadata to multiple photos.

I see,
But that requires that said keyword already exists which slows down the workflow when you're dealing with lots of new keywords, or even existing ones if you have lots and lots of keywords instead of just typing in a keyword (and it perhaps auto-completes). Also I'm somewhat of a keyboard-centric user 🙂

Also a good workaround but this requires adding a keyword to a photo then selecting, lifting and stamping. Seems a lot easier as LR does it which is select a bunch of photos, type in keyword(s), done.

I believe you can accomplish what you want. Hit Shift + D to bring up Keyword Controls at the base of the screen. Select multiple images. Type in keyword in box on right that says "add keyword". Hit return.

This did it. And for the coup de grace, do you know if a keyboard shortcut to get the cursor into that keyword box?

OK, which magic wand are you guys using?I tried this exactly as you describe, but it only applies the new keyword to the active image from the two images currently selected.

Any ideas?

Select the files you want change. Select them in Metadata -- Batch Change. Add Keywords...

Mike, you've probably got 'Primary Only' turned on. Either click on the little '1' button at the bottom of the Browser pane, or go to Edit>Primary Only.
