hit counter not working

I have tried to insert a hit counter on the last page of my website, it shows up in iweb but not when published. The site is being redirected by go daddy if that means anything.

"If you are actually publishing to GoDaddy the iWeb hit counter won't work.

If you are publishing to MobileMe try increasing the height of the footer in the Page inspector Layout window."

I'm having a problem with getting a hit counter via iWeb when publishing to me.com (or mac.com). It shows up on iWeb, but not on the page after it's published. The "Made on a Mac" and "Email Me" buttons show up and work fine on the published page.

I'll give the increasing the footer height a try.

I'm using the iWeb that came on the Macbook, it's version 1.1.2, could that be the problem?

With that version it doesn't look like I can add HTML snippets (something that was suggested as an alternative in another thread) to my page, so I'm getting a copy of iLife with the latest version of iWeb. I'm hoping that fixes things with the hit counter (as well as the password) and if it doesn't, at least I'll be able to try the HTML snippet.

Maybe it's not completely broken. I put up about 6 new pages yesterday. Those with the Notebook or Black themes work fine; the ones with Freestyle are broken. It must be a theme by theme issue.

But not completely. I took a page with a broken "freestyle" theme hit counter and changed it to "black." Hit counter still broken. Then deleted and added the hit counter back. Still broken. Changed the theme back to freestyle. Still broken

I think I got it: I looked at the html for the counter, and it's using a javascript on the SERVER side to update counters; it depends on a server side service. So, I think that sometimes when a new counter is added to a page, it takes a while for the service to create and store the counter for update. I added three pages late last week that had the "disappearing" counters. This morning, the counter are all there, and reflect activity since the pages were created.

Be nice if Apple would update the help pages to reflect the possible delay in implementing that button.

I can confirm the above. After buying the latest version of iLife and using that version of iWeb to create my pages, initially I still saw no hit counter. The next day I checked my sites from work and the hit counters were present and still are.

So for me it was upgrading to the latest version if iWeb (which I would need if I wanted to try the HTML snippet) and then waiting.
