OS for PowerBook G4 15"

OS for PowerBook G4 15"

Hi, I have just aquired a PowerBook G4 15" but someone has wiped off all the software and it is coming up with a qusetion mark when you boot it up.
Does any one know how I can find out which version of software I require for it, as I have heard that Ineed the correct version, ie Leopard/Tiger.
The serial number of my laptop is: V74 **UNRW, if it helps.

Welcome to the forums!

You need to obtain the original install disks for that Powerbook from the vendor, who is not allowed to retain them.

If you see this within the 15 minute edit limit, please edit out the serial number from your post - it could invite fraud!

Is this OS known as the Leopard, and does it come on 1 disk?

If it is a G4 it would have come with Tiger 10.4 or even the older Panther 10.3.

I don't recall Panther but Tiger was on two disks.

You G4 may or may not be able to run Leopard 10.5

Requirements for OS X 10.5

If you enter the Serial Number of the 15" PowerBook G4 in the text field to the right of "Search Tech Specs" on This Page, the model will be shown.
Click on that to view all of the specs including the original version of OS X.
