samsung clx 3175 color laserprinter does not get any option selections

I just bought an Imac and thus i am pretty new to mac os x.

My clx-3175 is connected via the network, i downloaded both the apple samsung drivers update and the driver via the website from samsung. I can't set any of the options the printer supports as under Windows, like scaling, graytones etc. The only setting is something about temperature, but this is to me a very strange option, indicating that something is wrong.

Any idea what i should do to get the printer functioning with the various options

imac, Mac OS X (10.6.2), dutch (nederlands) as preferred language

I've finally managed to get the settings set for my printer so that i can chose between color and gray-tone printing.

The trick was to add twice the printer, getting thus two queues (one I called clx 3175 BW and the other clx 3175 COLOR). The printer driver is the one as installed from Apple.

Setting the color or gray-mode, i did it using the cups web interface ( http://localhost:631/). Via that interface using the printers tab and selecting each of the queues, one can there under the admin button select the entries for the default settings. There you can select the color or gray setting, correct page settings etc.

To be honest, i was a bit disappointed that i had to combine the mac os x way of working and the CUPS way of working. Both the samsung as the Apple drivers for samsung did not mention to use this way of working.
