Strange files appearing on desktop

I keep getting these random files popping up on my desktop. I thought it had something to do with my children, but it's not them.

The files are all 0k and end in .part.

Here are some sample file names: gvxV7G+C.html.part, UvBFXlyA.pdf.part and K9+qs65i.pdf.part.

Any suggestions?
Thanks.

That's a good idea. My Firefox history doesn't show time. Is there a way to see it? I know that's off the subject here. I'll keep an eye on the time from now on. I do have the date modified time in the file. My downloads window in Firefox has DL time, but the strange file isn't showing up in that DL list. I'm just going to have to pay attention to when they pop up.

Thanks for the help.

I realized when they appear. If I click on a link to view a pdf, a window pops up asking to open or save. If I just close the window and don't save the file, the .part file stays on the desktop. As soon as I click a pdf link, the file appears on my desktop. Doesn't matter what site I am on. Why would it do this? Doesn't seem normal.

Thanks again for the help.
