JIS keyboard vs US keyboard

I bought my new iMac 21.5" the other day at Yodobashi Camera in Tokyo, so it came with the Japanese JIS keyboard instead of the US keyboard, which I prefer.

I would have ordered online and customized, but because of the "customization" it would have taken until March 3rd for it to arrive and I urgently needed a new computer for work.

I ordered the US keyboard separately from Apple yesterday and it arrived today, free shipping. (Yes, that seems a bit contradictory.)

Here's a photo of them side by side I just took if anybody is interested:

The character keys are the same size (I measured them), but because there are less keys overall some of the other keys (space, shift, return, delete, tab, etc) are wider. Plus the punctuation are all in the positions I'm used to.

I also think the US keyboard overall is just a smidgen wider. At least I couldn't align the left and right sides. The depths and heights are exactly the same though.

I like being modular with my kb and mouse like this because I've had trouble in the past with PB keyboards and trackpads and it's nice to be able to swap out for something else easily like this.
